Q. When are the practices?
A: Practices are held weeknights (Mondays - Fridays) between 6pm and 10pm at local middle and elementary schools (see locations for details). Travel teams also practice on Saturdays. Practices are 60 to 90 minutes long and teams practice 1-2 nights per week. Practices are subject to school blackouts and may change time or location. Your coach should notify you of any practice schedule changes.
Q. When are the games?
A: Games are generally held Saturdays between 8am and 6pm. Weeknight games are scheduled if there is inclement weather and/or if there is an odd number of teams in the division. High School and Travel games are Sunday afternoons between 1pm and 6pm.
Q. When does the season run?
A: CLBL offers a winter house league, travel and select, and high school program. The season begins in November and runs through March. We sponsor travel teams in the summer on a limited basis by invitation only.
Q. When can I register and how do I register?
A: Registration for the Winter program runs August through mid-October. All registration is done online at Sportability. Registration information, fees, etc. will be posted by August 1.
Q. Who can play in the Central Loudoun Basketball League?
A: CLBL is open to kids in grades 3-12 who live in the LCHS and Heritage HS attendance zones of Loudoun County. Middle and Elementary Schools that we serve can be found on our School Districts page.
Q. Does my child have to attend public schools to be eligible to play?
A: No, as long as you live in the attendance zone above, you are eligible to play in CLBL.
Q. How are the divisions structures?
A: There are boys and girls age groups that are divided based on the grade level of the child. Our division structures are as follows: 3rd/4th; 5th/6th; 7th/8th; 9th/10th; 11th/12th. Travel teams are offered for each middle school (Simpson, Harper Park, Smarts Mill) for grades 6 through 8. Depending on enrollment, some age groups may be combined.
Q. What is the Travel Program?
A: The travel program is an advanced-level, select program offered to kids in the 6th - 8th grades. Our travel teams are formed for boys and girls by middle school (Simpson, Harper Park, Smarts Mill) and play in the Loudoun County Travel Basketball League against middle school teams from around the County. Travel teams are selected on a tryout basis and players are charged an extra fee for uniforms, etc. More information about the travel program is located on our Travel page.
